Get Ready to Take the Next Steps in Melbourne Australia From the 23rd-25th October 2006, Melbourne is hosting the 7th International Walk21 conference in the spectacular Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre involving visionary and influential planners, practitioners, politicians and advocates for sustainable, strong and healthy communities where people can and do choose to walk. Leading speakers and delegates from more than 14 different countries and a diversity of sectors including recreation, community development, urban and transport planning, environmental protection, safety, health, education, tourism, design and business areas are converging on Melbourne for this landmark event.

Main Conference Themes.
Melbourne Walk21 aims to support and generate the next steps that will really bring walking into the mainstream. It will be an action orientated event focusing on four main themes:

Designing communities so that walking is safe, easy and attractive.

Marketing walking to the community.

Making the case
Building the case for walking from social, environmental and economic perspectives.
